Libyan desert glass, (also known as Libyan gold tektite, Egyptian desert glass and great sand sea glass) is a tektite that can only be found in the Libyan/Egypt border in the Libyan desert. The yellow hued glass was created when a meteor hit the desert 29 million years ago, with immense heat & pressure turning the minerals into a form of glass.
Egyptians discovered it 1000’s of years ago and was often used in jewellery and amulets. One of the most well-known being the Libyan desert glass on King Tutankhamun’s pectoral. In the centre of this beautiful piece of jewellery is a scarab which is carved out of Libyan desert glass. That connection alone is quite amazing, Libyan desert glass was the chosen crystal for such an important piece of jewellery, did they know more about this crystal?
Today it is still used in jewellery, but it has an increasing metaphysical interest. This crystal brings about change and transformation – think about how this outer-worldly crystal was created. A meteor impact - BOOM – big energy, big change, and that is the vibration this crystal holds.
It is a solar plexus crystal, which is the energy centre in the body that corresponds with personal power, confidence, energy, being able to take challenges head on, feeling motivated etc. Libyan desert glass embodies this, holding the powerful golden energy of the sun and cosmos, helping to take the step forward to positive changes.
It also helps with spiritual connection & vision, supporting a spiritual journey. This mystical ET crystal embodies the energies of other realms, which helps aid exploration with other dimensions.
Knowing this, It make sense that it was on the breast plate of an Egyptian king – its power and energy with divine connection.
Maybe try using a piece in your next meditation and see where it takes you! You may not end up on another planet having tea with aliens, but a journey of spiritual exploration? With all that history and golden motivating energy? It’s definitely got us curious
